In September 2023 I followed squirrels in the walnut tree for 6 weeks. In the first week I noticed that the squirrels always took the same route through the hedge past the kitchen window. I was doing my graduation assignment and looking after a friend’s detached house. The owner tipped me to ‘pay attention to the walnut trees on the other side of the path’. And so I started with a chair in the garden to see when the squirrels were there and whether I could photograph them somewhere well. I soon saw them jumping over the cycle path in one spot and I started focusing on that.
